A SWIRLED HISTORY
Ice Cream & the Cone
Long before sprinkles sparkled and scoops soared sky-high, there was… snow. Yes, really! Ancient empires — from China to Persia — used snow and mountain ice to chill sweetened milk or crushed fruit into what could only be described as prehistoric gelato. Royal treats, enjoyed under sun-dappled skies and woven canopies. Then came the creamy evolution: sorbets in Renaissance Italy, frozen custards in France,
and by the 18th century, the first whispers of something truly magical — ice cream. But here’s the twist: for centuries, ice cream roamed the world bowl-bound and spoon tethered. That is, until the early 1900s, when something crunchy came to change everything.

ENTER THE CONE
The stories swirl. Some say it was at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis — when a pastry vendor rolled his thin wafflles into a funnel to help out an overwhelmed ice cream seller. Others whisper of earlier origins in Europe and even the Middle East. But wherever it first looped into shape, one thing was certain:
The cone became more than a container.
It became part of the experience.
A crisp embrace. A handheld celebration. A delicious ending built right in.

And today? Cones are no longer just companions — they’re culinary canvases. And here at Wafflerie, they’ve become the stars of the show.
Because history should be edible. And dessert should never be disposable.
